Describe the image: Nephew of Captain Charles Everett - George Bertrand. George came to New Zealand in 1856 - after the death of his mother Sara Bertrand at England. Sara was Charles's wife Rebekah's sister. George served during the New Zealand Land Wars with the Taranaki Militia; the Taranaki Volunteers and the Forest Rangers. He later settled at Urenui, New Plymouth District - where he ran a General Store with a fellow soldier veteran. George died in 1926. His son - also named George Bertrand - would be 2nd in Command of the 28 (Maori) Battalion 2NZEF during World War 2.
