: Memorial Plaque for 6 Allied Air Crew of Stirling LJ878
: Memorial Plaque for the 6 Allied Air Crew of 99 (Special Operations) Squadron Stirling IV LG878 - which was shot down by German anti-aircraft fire 5/6 August 1944 - over France - whilst delivering war equipment to the French Resistance. The 3 French names are of civilians killed when the Stirling crashed into the French village of Plougoumelen, France. 1,000 French inhabitants attended the funeral of this aircrew - and the coffins were covered in flowers (see biography).
