Describe the image: Sgt Finlayson was the pilot of Wellington bomber R1330 which took off from RAF Alconbury, UK, at 2225 hours and bombed Hamburg. The aircraft was shot down at 0140 hours 12 May 1941 by Helmut Lent a German night fighter ace flying ME110s from Deelen near Arnhem, Holland. My uncle, F/Sgt James Shaw (English) was the only survivor and was taken POW. Lent was killed in 1944 in a flying accident.
Where did your information come from?: My brother got some info from our uncle Ex Warrant OfficerJames Shaw RAFVR who died in 1987.
