Volunteering on our information desk is a great way to become involved in Auckland Museum.
Weekend Information Desk Volunteers sought
The service we are able to provide visitors is greatly enhanced by the work of our Information Desk Volunteers, who provide lasting first impressions and wide-ranging information to members of the public.
This is a role for friendly, helpful people who love to provide guidance and who can communicate clearly. As you can expect, queries are about all sorts of subjects. That's why we provide full workshop-based training, enabling our Information Desk Volunteers to be equipped to field questions and provide valuable information to our visitors.
Help shape the experience people from Auckland, the rest of New Zealand and the rest of the world have at Auckland Museum.
The qualities we look for
Information Desk Volunteers need strong people skills and the ability to communicate clearly with people from all walks of life, from all over the world. Perhaps you are recently retired, a tertiary student or are working and wanting to volunteer in your spare time - our Volunteers come from all different backgrounds.
Volunteers are required to speak fluent English. The ability speak other languages is a bonus, although not a requirement.
Commitment
We ask for a commitment of approximately one half day shift per week or per fortnight, typically on Saturday or Sunday, although we would love to hear from you if you have availability on Fridays and/or Mondays also. Rosters are always confirmed in advance, so you'll always know when you'll be required at the Museum, or available to enjoy the rest of your weekend.
In this volunteer role, new recruits will be welcomed into the Museum family and provided with comprehensive workshop based training. We are seeking people who forsee that they're able to make a genuine, long lasting commitment to this role and the Museum.
