Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and dark grey in colour with an oval cross-section. Yame ni Matau has a dull cutting edge, with a moderately steep bevel, and with the butt left pecked. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over.
