'Au'upega

'Au'upega. Club. Clubs were used by men and warriors during times of warfare and combat. Wooden and stone weapons were used before the introduction of Western materials and weapons. This 'au'upega is carved from wood that is dark brown almost black in colour. The handle is solid and cylindrical in shape and tapers out towards the base. It is smooth, polished and undecorated with two horizontal cracks along the handle. The head is flat on top, with a wide diamond cross section. There are notched triangles, diamonds, zig zags in decorative formations all around.
