Rabatan te kaneati. Trolling lure shank. This rabatan (fishing lure shank) is cut from the mid-section of te bwaeao (pearl shell) from the hinge to the lip. Two perforations are drilled through the thickest point of the rabatan, located at the hinge end. The rabatan is rectangular in general shape which is ground and reduced at both ends, with a pointed apex at the hinge end. The rabatan is curved in profile with high sheen and iridescent colour, light golden yellow, with notches on the thinner end.
