A perforation is drilled through the thickest point of the rabatan, located at the hinge end. The rabatan is rectangular in general shape with its long sides and surfaces ground and polished. The hinge end is ground to a pointed apex. The rabatan is curved in profile with high sheen and iridescent colour, light yellow on the inside surface and mottled brown and maroon on the outer surface. The rabatan is notched at the base end.
