Te raum

human history

Te raum. Spade. This is a large mussel shell (horse mussel) that was used for gardening. This consists of two pieces whereby one is a small fragment of the shell. its entire form is shaped like a tear-drop and the surface of the concavity is smooth and shiny. It varies in colour from dark to mid-brown and the lighter area shows some transparency. The edges are rough around the curve of the shell. A fracture along the hinge ligament features a separation between the interior and exterior surfaces. The exterior of the concavity is made of a series of fine ridges that make up the lines of growth. White erosions are visible over the upper area of shell exterior. The colour of remaining area varies from dark to light brown. This is large in size and is considered useful in gardening.
