Te puu inu

Te puu inu. Coconut shell water carrier. This puu inu consists of a whole fuaaniu (mature coconut shell) which has been encased in netting of kolokolo (2-ply coconut sennit). The handle is made from the same material. The kolokolo netting is knotted in a tio technique reminiscent of a fishing net weave. The pono (stopper) that plugs the hole at the top of the puu inu is made from kanava (Cordia subcordata) wood. The puu inu is light brown in colour.
