Obituary

Trooper Douglas Roy Caldwell, whose death on December 27 was announced yesterday, was the third son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Caldwell of Doonholm, Tolaga Bay. He left with the Sixth Reinforcements. He was six weeks on Gallipoli, and took part in the evacuation. He was subsequently in Egypt up to the time of his death. 'He was stricken down with illness and died of heart failure, following on pneumonia. Prior to enlisting he had been engaged in sheepfarming in this district, and for some years he was manager on Mr R Murphy's station at Wanganui. He was a great favorite with all who knew him and much sympathy will be felt for his parents and relatives. His mother is at present ill in Gisborne
