Biographical information
- Philip Symons was the son of Josiah Symons, and of Susan Symons (nee Pettit), of Menzies Ferry, Southland, New Zealand.
Private P. Symons (Stalag 344)
Letter: Undated
All our unit boys who were captured in Crete are here. There are men from Dunkirk to the latest captured in Italy here too. This camp is well organised. A good old Red Cross parcel every week and an issue of soup and potatoes instead of macaroni. We are faring not so badly here at this camp.
