Death notes

In mid-November, the New Zealanders moved into the Polygon Wood sector, just south of Passchendaele. They faced a mangled landscape, waterlogged and undeveloped as a trench system. The troops were tasked with consolidating their position; repairing dugouts, improving fighting trenches, refurbishing communications trenches and carrying forward supplies from the rear. On 19 November 1917 while engaged in these activities Private Clark was killed in action in the Field. He was buried in Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Belgium.
