Obituary

FATAL ACCIDENT.
DEATH OF AN OFFICER- (per Press Asspclation). WELLINGTON, this day.
Just before an accident occurred at Lower Hutt railway station, by which Sergeant W. R. McVicar, of C Companv, 19th Reinforcements, lost his life. The last troop train bound for Trentham was entering the station at reduced speed, preparatory to stopping, when Sergeant McVicar attempted to board one of the carriages. He missed his grip and fell between the carriages and platform. The driver applied the brakes promptly but when Mc Vicar, was located he was found to be terribly mangled about the legs and head. Death was almost instantaneous. Deceased is thought to be married
