  • Bedford's next of kin is incorrectly recorded as his father.

    Bedford left for France on 28 May 1917 shortly after he became ill and was admitted, on 17 June 1917, to an isolation hospital suffering from mumps. By mid July he had developed gallstones and was evacuated to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst. He survived only two and a half more months and died as a result of an abscess on the liver.
