LATE 2015: Songs of the City

Past Event
Events Centre, Adults $20, Museum Institute and Circle members $10

This year, 175 years since the founding of Auckland city, LATE delves into all things Tāmaki Makaurau. First up in the series, hear about music inspired by and or created in the city of Auckland.

Panel discussion

Chaired by broadcaster Russell Brown, explore the city's vibrant music scene with some of the people and performers behind it. Your esteemed panel of speakers for the evening includes DJ and hip hop legend Phil Bell (DJ Sir Vere), Aotearoa musical pioneer and icon Dave Dobbyn, AudioCulture’s Creative Director and local music authority Simon Grigg, and co-creator of the iconic pop culture series Outrageous Fortune, Rachel Lang.

Across the course of an evening you’ll also be entertained with a specially curated DJ set from DJ Sir Vere and spellbinding performances from Dave Dobbyn and award-winning musician Emma Paki.

Late-night exhibition opening

Enjoy panoramic views of Auckland City from the Museum’s level 3 event centre, a delicious food menu created by the chefs at Dawsons Catering, plus a bar will be available. Our special exhibition Taku Tamaki – Auckland Stories will be open for viewing.
