Collection Partnerships
Auckland Museum collection data and imagery is shared with more than twenty partners who make requests to the Collections Online API or receive data by scheduled or curated uploads. We work with both specialist domain aggregators, general international aggregators, social media and curated content platforms to share the museum's collections with internet users around the world.

Are you ready to discover the contents of the world’s largest encyclopaedia? Wikipedia strives to hold the sum of human knowledge in its site, with help from Auckland Museum’s Wikimedian in Residence we are part of this movement. Utilising our collections, research and expertise we are working towards filling knowledge gaps about, Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa and our place in the Pacific.

Exactly how big was the giant moa? How do you notate the birdsong of the Tūī? What was life like as a beekeeper in New Zealand at the turn of the twentieth century? These questions and more are answered in the volumes we’ve made available through our partnership with the Biodiversity Heritage Library, a Smithsonian Institution project that brings together some of the most important works in botany, zoology, archaeology, geology and other aspects of the natural sciences.
