Kōrero taurongo
- Alfred Powley married Jane Morgan at Foxton on 30 September 1915. This was between his return from Samoa and his departure for Egypt in November 1915. The officiating minister was Rev. Raine.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 October 1915. He also served as Adjutant to the Commander of 2 Battalion in Egypt.
Alfred Powley was wounded on 19 September 1916 and died the following day.
In 1922 his medals were sent to Calder and Goldwater, Solicitors, Auckland as the solicitors for the estate and under authority of the legatee named in the will. It appears that Mrs Powley returned the Star to the Defence Department who forwarded it to the solicitors.
Attended Auckland Grammar School.
Attended Auckland University College (now the University of Auckland).
Next of Kin: Mrs J. Powley, Devonport, Auckland (Roll of Honour, Auckland Province 1914-1918 (Volume 2)) AWMM
