Verso: "3 Timaru boys included Eddie Arthur Bonnin [text in brackets that is illegible] & Corp Finlayson. It's only a shame the three are leaving." Corporal Finlayson (3/149A) and Arthur Edward Bonnin (3/102A). Tentative identification of Corporal Ernest Mathew Finlayson, service no. 3/149A NZ Medical Corps standing with one leg raised on the seat facing toward camera. Identification made on Finlayson's Timaru address on Nominal Rolls, which fits with the handwritten description on the verso, and the two chevrons on this figure fitting the rank of corporal. Edward Arthur Bonnin service no. 3/102A, possibly standing second from left in a private's cap (see his portrait in the Onward Project for visual likeness).
