- DEATH OF SERGEANT GILBERT BREMNER.
To have lost all of his three sons in the defence of the Empire, and himself to have served with the forces until put out of action to the extent of having to be invalided home, is the fine but sad record that has fallen to Mr W. G. Bremner, of Gisborne. It will be remembered that the two elder sons, Troopers James and Jack Bremner, left with the Main Body. The former died of wounds in Gallipoli, and the latter was killed in action in France, he also having been wounded on Gallipoli. The sad advice has now been received that the youngest and last son, Sergeant W. Gilbert B. Bremner, died of wounds on July 20. Educated at Waitaki Boys' High School, Sergeant Bremner joined the: clerical staff of Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., at Gisborne, and he enlisted as soon as he attained the military age. He was a member of the E.C.M.R., and left Gisborne to join the n.c.o camp, eventually leaving New Zealand with the 14th Mounted Reinforcements. He had been attached to the troops in Egypt, and had participated in the advance into Palestine. Like his brothers, Sergeant Bremner was a popular young man. He was a member of the Gisborne Rowing Club, and local Tennis and Golf Clubs, in which pastimes he took a keen interest. Much sympathy will be felt for the father and the aunts (Mesdames Parris, Parker, and Miss Booth) in their bereavement.Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 19 June 2023 - DEATH OF SERGEANT GILBERT BREMNER.
