Kōrero taurongo
- Stanley Ellis was the son of William and Ethel Muriel Ellis of Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand
At the time of his death Ellis was flying with Bomber Command.
In October 1943 Robert and his crew (5 New Zealanders and 2 Englishmen) responded to a request for volunteers to search for a Flying Fortress which had come down in the North Sea the previous day. They left for this mission called Operation Air Sea Rescue in the Lancaster II DS721 KO-U at 0652 from Little Snoring and were lost without trace.
