Kōrero taurongo
- Norman Heal waas the son of Ernest Norman and Ellen Harriet Heal, of Fitzroy, Taranaki
Attended New Plymouth Boys High School (Source: RNZAF Biographies (R17845611)) AWMM - Norman John Heal was the son of Ernest Norman and Ellen Harriet Heal of Fitzroy, New Plymouth. He attended New Plymouth Boys’ High School (NPBHS) (Old Boy -1938 to 1941). He volunteered to serve with the Army and was sent first to Waiouru and then on to Linton Army Camp for basic military combat training. He then began training for the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). In 1944 he was posted to serve in the Pacific. Reports from the time state that Sergeant Heal and his crew members died when their aircraft crashed on December 4 1944 with a full load of bombs at Funafuti, Ellice Island. His body was recovered and is buried at the War Cemetery, Bourail, New Caledonia. He was only 21 years of age when he died.Public - Louise - Researcher - 9 July 2019 - West, J. (1995).
