- Thomas Higginson was the son of Charles Clinton Higginson and Margaret Stanway Higginson.
2 Lieutenant T. J. Higginson, MM; born NZ 17 Nov 1917; sheep farmer; died of wounds 30 Mar 1944. (Source: Cody, J.F. NZ Engineers, Middle East. p.374.)
'Eighteenth Army Troops Company was flat out recommissioning the water pipelines and had two water barges transferring water from ship to shore at Matruh. A 90-strong detail of 19 Army Troops Company was on the way to Benghazi; a 100-strong detachment of 21 Mechanical Equipment Company had arrived at Tobruk on the 24th. Sixteenth and 17th Railway Operating Companies, with the help of an Indian and an RE operating company, were again working the 400 miles of track between Alexandria and Tobruk, where the enemy had obligingly added a few more miles of line into the port. Other rank decorations not previously mentioned were: Sapper F. Fenton, DCM, L-Sergeant T. J. Higginson, MM, and Sergeant R. B. Smith, MM.' (Source: Cody, J.F. NZ Engineers, Middle East. pp. 374, 543.) AWMM
