DSO citation: "For outstanding leadership and devotion to duty. At Corinth on 26 April 1941 when heavily attacked by airborne troops, this officer ensured that the vital Corinth bridge was demolished, then fought a delaying action with some survivors of his field company and other units and finally lead them for twenty miles across country to safety. His coolness and ready judgement inspired others and helped to save a desperate situation." (NZ Gazette, 21 September 1944) AWMM - Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) AWMM
