NZ Army Legal Department, WWII AWMM - Claude Weston, a solicitor in New Plymouth, wrote a very interesting book on his experiences called:
Three years with the New Zealanders. It was published in 1919 and not an 'official' account of the war as it was an independent publication.
He was the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Wellington Regiment during the Battle of La Basse-Ville and his account was used for the chapter in the Wellington Regiment book later. He was mentioned in Despatches: "...during the action at Messines and La Basse-Ville his work was excellent and the success of the Battalion in these operations was largely due to his work and example.", citation from p 400Public - Dominique G J M - Researcher - 23 September 2025 - La Basse-Ville 1917: New Zealand Voices from Flanders Fields, by D.G.J.M.Cooreman, 2016
