  • Alexander Meikle was the son of Alex Lindsay Meikle and Jessie Douglas Meikle, of West Calder, Midlothian, Scotland.

    Meikle was murdered in his sleep by Private Eric Andrew Clark at the 2NZEF camp in Maidstone. Clark was drunk and had gotten into a dispute at a pub earlier in the evening and fell out with Meikle. Later that evening he found where Meikle was sleeping and murdered him with a sheath knife. During the ensuing court case, Clark argued that he suffered from hypo-thyroidism and was insane at the time. AWMM
