"Mr K. C. Rickit received the sad intelligence yesterday of the death of his brother-in-law, Mr Oliver Sidney Ellis, at the age of 36 years. He was a son of Mrs Manawa Ellis and the late Mr J. W. Ellis, of the firm of Ellis and Burnand, Limited, and was a brother of Mr Stanley Ellis, the well-known deep-sea fisherman, and Mrs Rickit, of Te Awamutu. He was born at Otorohanga, but spent most of his life in Hamilton. While a pupil at King’s College, he was chosen as one of the Empire cadets who visited Canada in 1912. He held a commission in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and went on active service with the fifth reinforcements. He had been in very poor health for some considerable time, and is survived by a widow and one child." Local and General, Waipa Post, Volume 42, Issue 3300, 23 May 1931, Page 4 AWMM
