Frederick Chamberlin - An account of my proceedings since my arrival in New Zealand in 1853, with a diary, 1853 - [1854]

documentary heritage

Volume containing a typed transcript of the journal(s) kept by Frederick Chamberlin during his first two years in New Zealand. Beginning with a general overview of the early months after he and his brother Henry's arrival in New Zealand from England, via Australia, the entries become more regular from 1 October 1853 onwards until the last entry on 26 December 1854. Most of the journal concerns Frederick Chamberlin's early period breaking in the land at Ponui Island (also known as Chamberlin's Island) along with his younger brother Charles, who joined him on the island some months later in November 1853.
