Rarotonga. Colonel Gudgeon, Hon. Mills and others receiving deputation at Government Building April 1903.

documentary heritage

Government Building in Rarotonga fills almost the entire image. Colonel Gudgeon, Hon. Mills and others are standing as a group on the top steps, receiving a deputation. They are holding their hats in their hands and appear to be listening. A Rarotongan man stands before them at the base of the stairs with his back to the camera [possibly giving a speech] while onlookers surround the edges of the space to the left and right of the image. The tops of palm trees are visible in the background just beyond the roof.
