Sampler made by Mary Ling, aged 10 years, 1809. Mary Ling's sampler shows the verse which appears on more samplers than any other verse. This decorative sampler is unlikely to be the first sampler she stitched. Sampler on fine linen with reds, greens, browns. The motifs include - houses, peacocks, trees. Borders, signature and date. "Jesus permit thy gracious name"
