Belt

human history

Belt. This is a belt made from te ira (pandanus leaf). Its width is made up with seven braids of te ira in natural tones and dyed tones. The central braid is the widest compared to its bordering braids. It has retained its natural off-white colour. Two light blue braids frame the central braid then another two braids of dark orange come after this. A red braid has then been used to border the edges of the belt. A two ply cord of te ira in the same red tone colour has been used as the weft to hold the braids and form the entire belt. Both ends are different in finish: one end has been rounded off and the opposite end is perpendicular in finish. Its style indicates modern influences.
