Te kumete

human history

Te kumete. Wooden receptacle. This is a wooden bowl made of coconut wood. It is low in height, wide in width with a circular rim and flat base. The depth of the rim is thick. The circular and linear marks that are dappled through out the wooden texture portray the direction and area in which the kumete was carved from. It is smooth in surface texture and has also been polished. The grain marks are dark brown in colour surrounded by a mid-tone brown. There are uneven depressions inside the bowl upon the circular, flat base. These are more defined by darkened remnants.
