Moto
Moto Saisai. Multi-pronged long spear. This Moto Saisai is carved from kau (wood) into a long cylindrical shaft with four sharp but unevenly matched prongs attached to one end with cloth wrapping. The surface of the kau is textured to the touch. There is a large braided knot around the base of the pronged head. Two of the sharp prongs attached to the Moto Saisai are barbed. The wood is brown and dark in colour. An historical sticker adhered to the Moto Saisai reads: "multi-pronged spear - this could be Fijian c.f. Fig. 28c of Clunie's Fijian Weapens & Warfare; It is very clumsily made; none of the spear prongs match; European cloth used".
