Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Small, flat and rectangular in shape. Woven from processed rauara (pandanus leaf) strips in plain check pattern with dyed-red apuraka akamanea (decorative) overlay. Commencement from base and finished at rim with a patara (serrated) decorative rim. One tatai (handle) attached at centre. Overlaid dyed-red apuraka akamanea includes on one side a bold lozenge motif, on other side is a lozenge motif and an unfinished patara motif in uppper right corner. Previously attributed to Samoa, but likely to have originated from the Cook Islands.
