[Terrapin]

human history

Terrapin. Model. This is a carved model of a terrapin (they spend about half their time in water). It has been carved entirely from tou (Cordia subcordata). It features a ridged back for its shell, four stubs with grooved definitions for its legs beneath, a head at the front and a small tapered tail beneath the shell at one end. Grooves have been carved into its back from the ridge. Its head features a curved horizontal groove defining a mouth and two inlayed eyes defined by a lighter wood for the whites of its eyes then a darker wood for their pupil. Upon the belly, upper case text has been engraved featuring: "From Pitcairn Island Made by Christian Warren". The model terrapin has been finished with a polish.
