Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) with mainly overlaid dyed-brown/red with a small amount of dyed-pink apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). The kete has a patara (serrated) decorative edge. Overlaid apuraka akamanea forms check and diamond shaped patterns across both sides of the kete. A single woven rauara tatai (handle) spans the kete's opening. The tatai is attached to the kete by looping through the kete and then tied. Originally gifted in 1932.
