Kete

human history

Kete. Decorative bag. Possibly woven from koe (bamboo fibre). Kete has two straps interwoven with dyed-pink and natural-coloured koe straps. The straps overarch a woven sculpture, possibly a representation of a flower. The base mat is interwoven with dyed-pink koe and natural-coloured koe strips. The woven sculpture consists of a centre, possibly representative of a stem. The strands are possibly representative of flower petals. Small decorative taimana (diamond) shapes are cut out of each strand. There is a round piece at the upper of the stem, possibly representative of a flower's stamen.
