Pare (hat) component. Part of the base of an unfinished pare. Woven from undyed rauara (pandanus) and machine sewn together in a coiling technique. Oval in shape. Made with a coiling technique using plaited strips of raura. The coils are machine-sewn together using light-coloured cotton thread. "48684 COOK IS" (ethnology number) handwritten in black ink on inside of pare.
