amulet
human history
Stone amulet. A representation of a human face is carved into soft tufa limestone. This form of man-made charm is interesting as the stone would not have been selected for its natural mana, (usually recognised by a particularly striking natural shape found in a stone) rather, its spiritual properties were forced into it, perhaps to channel particular strengths of an ancestor. It would have been carried in the hand.
Charms as this are discarded once they are considered no longer effective.
