Pale ipu
human history
Pale ipu. Place mat. This pale ipu is made from thin strips of laufala (pandanus leaf) that have been woven outwards from the pekapeka (commencement) in the middle. The pale ipu is slightly domed at the top and the surface has a slight glossy sheen to it. This pale ipu was made by Sela Pulu and was most likely made for the tourist trade or for domestic use at home.
