Ato

Ato. Bag. This ato is woven from young launiu (coconut leaf); the strips are very thin and are a very light cream colour. The ato itself is cylindrical in shape, with a detachable lid which is attached to the handle with a small string of plaited fibre. The handle is made from plaited fibre and attached on either side of the ato. Due to the size of this ato, it could have been used as a small clutch or purse or for a small child.
