Maga
Maga. Point. This is a maga made of una fono (turtle shell). The maga is a dark, almost black colour, with a scratched surface. The scratches would have been made during its manufacture. The maga has a sharp point and is shaped slightly square as opposed to curved. The maga has a sharp point at one end and a blunt tip at the other. The maga has two holes along one side that would have been made using a vilivili (pump drill). These holes would have been used to lash the maga to the pa taki aheu (fish hook/lure). Each maga was shaped differently and was decided by each individual maker.
