Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Chisel. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone), with a circular cross-section, dark grey in colour. The Yame ni Matau has a moderately sharp cutting edge, moderately steep and well defined bevel, and with a rounded blade. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over, with the sides and back of the blade, poll and butt left pecked.
