Parahu

human history

Parahu. War club. This war club is carved from ra'au (hardwood) into a long cylindrical to'o (shaft) that tapers from a flat spatulate head. An area of the grip bound with finely braided nape (coconut sinnet) incorporated with tufts of black curly locks of human hair. The grip flares slightly to the butt which is convex and ovoid in section. The 'U'u is brown in colour with some patina visible.
