Saqa Tabua
Saqa Tabua. Water vessel, shaped like sperm whale's teeth, made from low-fired qele (clay). Small portable size. Mottled brown colour. Consists of 3 tabua forms conjoined and interconnected with handle. Hole at side of handle for pouring in water. i Gaga (spout) at one top of the tabua forms at opposite end for pouring out. Somuna (small applique mounds of qele) lining exterior of each tabua, as well as the handle. Decorative incised lines across handle and top halves of each tabua form. Glazed with makadre (resin from the dakua tree).
