Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone), dark grey in colour, with an oval cross-section, with a dull cutting edge, moderately shallow bevel, and with a flat blade that is rounded at the sides. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over, with flaking visible at the cutting edge, with the poll and butt left pecked.
