Ike

Ike. Bark cloth beater. Used for pounding and producing sheets of masi (bark cloth). Carved from solid kau (wood). Long and elliptical in cross section with a tapered handle. Both sides are incised. One side is with vertical grooves, approximately 2-4mm spaced apart. The opposite side is patterned with geometric/zigzag incisions with several vertical grooves spaced approximately 2-4mm apart. Brown in colour.
