Fragment, Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and dark grey in colour, with an oval cross-section. Yame ni Matau has a mild to moderately sharp cutting edge, with a steep bevel, and with a rounded blade. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over. Broken off at poll.
