Te mwae teimoone
Te mwae teimoone. Shell currency. This long strand of shell currency consists of small pieces of white te nouo (conus shell) and dark brown te nana (coconut shell) ground into small discs drilled at their centre and strung in an alternating monochrome pattern on a length of medium brown cord of te kora (coconut sennit), tied off at each end. The dark brown coconut shell discs are arranged in a pattern of three contrasted with the off-white conus shell disks. All the pieces are 7mm in diameter.
