Omore

human history

Omore. Spear. This omore is carved from ra'au (hardwood) into a long cylindrical shaft with a long, narrow diamond-shaped spear head in which the surface is further carved in light relief with serrated chevron designs emanating from a raised central ridge running the length of the head to the apex. Some minor damage to the serrated edges of the blade is visible. At the base of the head is a carved double collar feature which has decorative surface carving also. The wooded surface of the omore has splotches of white paint across the shaft and part of the head but is otherwise dark reddish brown in colour with a little patina.
